I wanted to create something that sounded like you were listening to your favourite radio mix DJ, but more technical. I sampled drums from impactful songs of my youth from producers like J.Dilla and Havoc, and drew inspiration from memorable tracks that were staples on the mixtapes I used to make for friends from artists like Brian McKnight, Janet and Biggie. Combine those old school vibes with new energy from some of today’s biggest artists, and you get “Play & Record”.
